Peer Review #3: Moda Web Design & Fashion Blog

Home page of Moda Web

Website link: https://brendanmckay.com/101blog/blog.html

Brendan’s website, Moda Web, is a blog about fashion and the fashion industry. The chosen audience is very specific and the website seems to be doing a great job catering to people who care about what is happening in the fashion and design world. Brendan’s blog contains posts about runway fashion shows, the creative minds behind haute couture, as well as new products in the fashion industry. They seem to have an eye for fashion and creativity because their blog has a very minimalistic look, but still somehow looks super neat and modern. The black and white look gives the website a contrasting but welcoming feel that I as the viewer very much like.

Brendan’s posts revolve around the world of fashion is very lucky for those certain people looking to keep up to date with all that is happening in the fashion industry. Since the blog is all about the fashion world, it would only make sense that Brendan’s targeted audience is people wanting to keep up with everything in fashion or people that are generally interested in fashion.

The website definitely caters to its chosen and very specific demographic especially since in one of the posts it mentions the use of Google Analytics (which by the way is a great way to figure out who your audience is and how to engage more with them). If I were someone who wants to keep up with the world of the fashion industry and see what is happening around the world, Brendan’s website is definitely the place where I would look and depend upon to keep me up to date.

While going through the website and getting lost in all the posts about the fashion world, I found some ways that the website could be improved. Well, to begin with, it would be nice to have an accessibility feature so that everyone and anyone interested in fashion can access Brendan’s blog without difficulty or inconvenience. Another thing that would be nice to see would be a little bit more about the author in the “About” section of the blog because as of right now it only tells the audience about the website (which is absolutely fabulous), but it would be great to get to know a bit more about the genius behind the blog.

Besides my minor suggestions, Moda Web is an absolutely amazing and fabulous place to visit and keep in mind if you want to stay up to date with the world of the fashion industry and everything fashionable.

Peer Review #2: alltravelledbyclaire

Title and menu on alltravelledbyclaire's homepage

Website link: https://alltravelledbyclaire.com

This week I got the opportunity to take a look at and review Claire’s website. Claire’s website, alltravelledbyclaire, is about her travels and adventures, she uses her website as a platform where she can share her knowledge about the places she has been to as well as some pictures she captured.

As soon as I entered the website, it seemed to be a very calming and serene place. On her home page, it shows what she offers which includes Photography, Travel Resources and Itinerary Support, as well as a Personal Blog/Travel Journal.  The overall feel of the website creates a welcoming, helpful, and nice environment as soon as you enter the website.

The website design and layout is quite simple, but that’s what gives the website its feel of peacefulness. The simplicity makes sure that the reader does not get distracted by other things and can stay focused on what they are looking at on the website. The layout of the blog posts is organized in a way that any post can be found quite quickly. She placed her email in the top right corner of her website, so that it can be easily found and accessed by those who need it.

The theme of her website seems to be inspired by nature and the outdoors which is further shown in her background display picture of her title as well as in the pictures she has posted. The structure of the website is very easy to understand, use, and navigate through which is probably due to the minimalistic customizations.

Claire’s website is overall very pleasant and interesting in the sense of her posts, the home page, and design choices. However, there is always something that can be improved, changed, or developed more. In the case of Claire’s website, I personally believe that it would be better if she could remove or edit the default pages that come with the theme of her website. It would also be great if she could add an accessibility tab somewhere on her website, so that it is more accessible to everyone.

Overall, Claire’s website is lovely and her About page and posts really show what she wants her website to be as well as what her website means to her. Putting aside what her website could improve on, it is a great place to visit when you want to read a travel story, look at some pictures, or just need to find someone that you can quickly contact when you need some travel knowledge to help you out.

Peer Review #1: I Wear Your Grandad’s Clothes

Title and slogan of "I Wear Your Grandad's Clothes"

This is the first time I will be reviewing a website, so let us hope that I do this right. I feel like I never do a good job of reviewing anything in general, so I am hoping that I will be able to provide good and helpful feedback. So, let’s get started!

Recently, I got the amazing opportunity to peer review Makena Leyh’s website which is called, I Wear Your Grandad’s Clothes, and it was definitely an exciting and interesting opportunity! Makena’s website focuses on thrifting clothing that not only looks good, but is also sustainable. I honestly love that idea as not only does it seem so much fun to do, but that is an absolutely wonderful thing to do for the planet instead of contributing to the giant landfills caused by fast fashion.

The second I entered the website and landed on the homepage, it seemed like such a welcoming place with the warm colours and fun pictures! Exploring Makena’s website was such a fun experience especially since all her posts seem to have her personality embedded into them. The posts all have such wonderful information and are definitely worth the time to read as well as absorb all the super fabulous information that they are literally full of!

Makena’s website, I Wear Your Grandad’s Clothes, is so nice that I am trying to think of ways that maybe she could up her game and make it better than it already is. The best suggestion that I could come up with is that maybe she could add an “About Me” page so that people could get to know more about her and her website. Her website would definitely benefit from an “About” section as that would be a great place for any new audience members or current ones to get to know more about her website as well as a great place for her to show more of her online persona and what she wants people to take away from her website.

Other than that small suggestion, I absolutely adore the website, its design, the welcoming colours and most importantly its energy! Five stars all around like it is literally a great place to go if you are looking for information on fashionable and sustainable clothing.

For my first time reviewing a website, I think I did a pretty good job! Hopefully, the feedback I gave was kind and helpful!
